While choosing fruits for diabetes, always consume fresh whole fruits and eat in moderation to maintain blood sugar levels.

People with diabetes always keep an eye on what they eat and this includes choosing fruits that do not affect their blood sugar levels. Fruits are rich in fiber and essential vitamins and hence it is important to include them in a regular diet. It is a myth that diabetes can’t have fruits, the fiber content in fruits helps in slowing down the absorption of sugar and controls the blood sugar levels.  

 

It is wise to consume only fresh whole fruits, keep away from canned and dry fruits since they contain high levels of sugar. Although fruits are healthy, what works best for a diabetic is knowing how to eat them in moderation.   • Kiwi fruit – are low in fruit sugars as well, which makes it a perfect diabetic-friendly fruit.  
  • Melon – is recommended for people with diabetes, and people with the risk of developing diabetes. 
  • Dragon fruit – is full of dietary fibers, vital vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
